Visual Classroom Timer

A digital countdown only helps children who can already read and interpret numbers. A visual timer shows duration as a shrinking coloured area on an analogue dial, so even a four-year-old can see time passing and predict when the activity ends. Yes. The countdown is anchored to a real end time rather than counting frames, so if the tab is backgrounded it re-syncs instantly and still finishes on schedule — the chime fires even from a hidden tab. Turn on "Keep screen awake" and the device display will not sleep while the timer runs (on browsers that support wake lock).

The disc empties, a calm pulsing ring appears, and a gentle four-note ascending chime plays — deliberately soft rather than alarming. You can also toggle a spoken alert, so the timer says your label followed by "time is up" (for example, "Tidy up. Time is up."). Both sounds can be switched off for silent rooms.

Any whole number of minutes from 1 to 60 — the dial is a full 60-minute face like a classic classroom disc timer. Drag around the dial for a quick set, use the presets for common activity lengths, or nudge with the +/− buttons and arrow keys for an exact figure.
