About Unit Converter
This unit converter handles ten measurement categories — length, weight, area, volume, speed, time, pressure, energy, digital data and temperature. Pick a category, type a value, choose the units you are converting from and to, and the result appears instantly; a swap button flips the two units so you can convert back the other way without retyping.
Under the hood each category converts through a single base unit. Lengths are normalised to metres, weights to grams, volumes to litres, and so on: your value is multiplied by the source unit's factor and divided by the target's. The factors are the exact defined ones — one inch is 0.0254 metres, one pound is 453.59237 grams, one US gallon is 3.785411784 litres — so conversions are precise to several significant figures. Temperature is the exception: because Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin have different zero points, it is converted through Celsius rather than by a simple ratio.
The data category deliberately includes both decimal and binary sizes, so you can convert kilobytes (1,000 bytes) as well as kibibytes (1,024 bytes) and their larger cousins. Everything is calculated in your browser with no network calls, so results are immediate and your numbers never leave your device.

Frequently asked questions
A megabyte is a decimal (SI) unit equal to 1,000,000 bytes, while a mebibyte is a binary unit equal to 1,048,576 bytes (1,024 × 1,024). Storage is usually advertised in decimal MB and GB, but operating systems often report the binary MiB and GiB, which is why a "1 TB" drive looks smaller once installed. This converter lists both so you can compare them directly.
Temperature scales do not share a common zero, so a plain multiplication would be wrong. The tool first converts your value into Celsius, then out to the target scale — applying the −32 and ×5/9 steps for Fahrenheit and the 273.15 offset for Kelvin — which gives the correct answer for any pair.
Both. You will find the US gallon (3.785 litres) along with US quart, pint, cup, fluid ounce, tablespoon and teaspoon, plus the Imperial gallon (4.546 litres) and metric litres and millilitres. Just pick the exact unit you mean from the list so recipe and fuel conversions come out right.
They use the internationally defined conversion factors and results are shown to roughly eight significant figures, so for everyday cooking, travel, engineering and file-size work they are effectively exact. Only display rounding, not the underlying maths, limits the precision.
