This image resizer and compressor handles the three jobs people actually need in one place: resize a picture to exact pixel dimensions (with an aspect-ratio lock so it never stretches), compress it with a live quality slider, and convert between JPG, PNG and WebP. A live preview shows the result with its estimated file size and dimensions before you download anything.
The standout feature is the target-size mode. If a form says "photo must be under 100 KB", type 100 into the target field and hit Fit to size — the tool runs a quick binary search over quality levels and settles on the highest quality that still fits under your limit. No trial-and-error with the slider, no re-exporting five times. This works for JPG and WebP output; PNG is a lossless format, so its size is controlled by dimensions rather than a quality setting.
Everything happens inside your browser using the canvas API. If the result still looks too soft, reduce the width and height first: fewer pixels means the same KB budget buys much better quality.
PNG is a lossless format — it has no quality setting, so it always stores the image pixel-perfectly and the file size depends only on dimensions and image content. To make a PNG smaller, reduce its width and height, or switch to WebP or JPG, which compress far more aggressively at the cost of some (usually invisible) detail.

That makes it safe for sensitive files like passport photos, ID documents, signatures and medical images that you would not want passing through a third-party server.
JPEG does not support transparency, so transparent areas must be filled with something. This tool fills them with white — the natural choice for logos, signatures and product shots — whereas many converters leave them black. If you need the transparency preserved, keep the file as PNG or convert to WebP, which supports an alpha channel at a much smaller file size.
WebP typically produces files 25-30% smaller than JPG at comparable visual quality and is supported by every modern browser, so it is the better choice for websites and anything you control. Choose JPG when compatibility matters most — government upload portals, older software, email clients and print shops sometimes accept only JPG or PNG.
