About Free Invoice Generator — Create a PDF Invoice

This free invoice generator lets you build a clean, professional invoice in a couple of minutes and save it as a PDF — no signup, no watermark, no trial. Fill in your business name, the client, an invoice number, the invoice and due dates, then add line items with a description, quantity and rate. A live preview on the right shows exactly what your client will see as you type.

The maths is handled for you and follows standard invoicing convention: line amounts are quantity × rate, the subtotal is their sum, any discount percentage is taken off the subtotal, and tax is then applied to the discounted amount. For example, items totalling 10,000 with a 10% discount and 18% tax produce a discounted subtotal of 9,000, tax of 1,620 and a total of 10,620. The currency field is free text, so you can invoice in ₹, $, €, £ or any symbol or code you like.

Everything you enter auto-saves in your browser's local storage, so your business details, tax rate and preferred currency are still there the next time you open the page — without an account and without your data ever being uploaded. When you're done, one click opens the print dialog: choose “Save as PDF” and only the invoice itself is exported, cleanly formatted and free of any page furniture.

Popular uses

Freelancers billing clients for project work without paying for invoicing software Small shops and service providers issuing one-off or occasional invoices Tutors, coaches and consultants invoicing monthly sessions with a saved template Contractors adding a discount and local tax rate to a quick job invoice Side-hustlers who need a professional PDF invoice on their phone in minutes

Frequently asked questions

The discount is applied first, and tax is then calculated on the discounted subtotal. This matches how GST, VAT and sales tax normally work: tax is owed on the amount you actually charge the customer, not on the pre-discount price. You can see each step — subtotal, discount amount, tax amount and total — itemised on the invoice preview.

Yes. The whole form auto-saves to your browser's local storage as you type, so your business name, currency, tax rate and even in-progress line items survive closing the tab. Just note it is tied to the same browser on the same device, and the “Clear all” button wipes it. Update the invoice number and items and you can issue the next invoice in under a minute.

Click the Download / Print button, and in the browser's print dialog set the destination to “Save as PDF” (available in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari). Print styling ensures only the invoice is captured — the form, page header and everything else are excluded — so the PDF looks like a standalone document ready to email to your client.

Yes. The currency field is free text rather than a fixed dropdown, so you can enter ₹, $, €, £, or a code like CAD or AED, and it will prefix every amount on the invoice. The tool does not convert between currencies — it simply formats the numbers you enter with two decimal places and thousands separators.

It covers the elements most jurisdictions expect: seller and buyer names, a unique invoice number, issue and due dates, itemised descriptions with quantities and rates, tax, and the total due. If your situation requires extra registered details — a GSTIN in India, a VAT number in the EU, or specific payment terms — add them in the notes / payment terms field so they appear on the document. For formal tax filing requirements, confirm the mandatory fields for your jurisdiction.
