About Proof of Funds Calculator 2026 — Express Entry

This calculator shows the Express Entry proof of funds you must have available in 2026, based on your family size and the official IRCC settlement-funds table effective July 7, 2025 — the most recent table published as of July 2026. A single applicant needs CAD $15,263, a couple $19,001, a family of four $28,362, and each family member beyond seven adds $4,112. Move the slider and the required amount updates instantly, entirely in your browser.

The rule behind the numbers: IRCC sets settlement funds at 50% of the low income cut-off (LICO) and refreshes the table roughly once a year, usually mid-year. Family size counts you, your spouse or common-law partner and all dependent children — including family members who are not coming to Canada with you. The requirement applies to Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades candidates, and the money must be readily available and unencumbered from the moment you apply until permanent residence is granted.

Not everyone needs to show funds. If you are invited under the Canadian Experience Class, or you have a valid job offer and are authorized to work in Canada, you are exempt — the tool notes this below the result. Because IRCC updates the table each year, the calculator always displays the effective date of the figures it uses, so you know exactly which version of the table you are looking at before you confirm on canada.ca.

Frequently asked questions

Under the IRCC table effective July 7, 2025 (the latest published as of mid-2026): CAD $15,263 for one person, $19,001 for two, $23,360 for three, $28,362 for four, $32,168 for five, $36,280 for six and $40,392 for seven, plus $4,112 for each additional member. IRCC normally publishes an updated table each year, and you must meet whichever table is in force when you submit.

Yourself, your spouse or common-law partner, your dependent children and your spouse's dependent children — even the ones who are not immigrating with you. IRCC also requires you to include a spouse who is already a Canadian permanent resident or citizen. Family size is about who is in your family, not who is on the application.

Official letters from banks or financial institutions, printed on letterhead, listing your accounts, current balances and the average balance for the past six months. The money must be readily available to you: you cannot count equity in real estate, borrowed money, or funds you cannot legally access from Canada. Funds in a joint account with your spouse can be counted in full.

No. Candidates invited under the Canadian Experience Class are exempt, and so are candidates of any program who have a valid job offer and are currently authorized to work in Canada. Everyone else in Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades must show the full amount for their family size.

It should not. IRCC expects you to maintain at least the required settlement funds from the time you apply until permanent residence is issued, and officers can request updated bank letters at any stage. If the table increases while your application is in progress, or your family grows, check the new threshold and top up before you are asked.
