The rule behind the numbers: IRCC sets settlement funds at 50% of the low income cut-off (LICO) and refreshes the table roughly once a year, usually mid-year. Family size counts you, your spouse or common-law partner and all dependent children — including family members who are not coming to Canada with you. The requirement applies to Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades candidates, and the money must be readily available and unencumbered from the moment you apply until permanent residence is granted.
