About Passport & Visa Photo Maker

This passport photo maker turns an ordinary selfie into a correctly sized, print-ready passport, visa or ID photo — entirely in your browser, so your photo never leaves your device. Pick from ten built-in document presets: India passport/visa (35×45 mm), US passport and visa (2×2 in, 51×51 mm), Canada passport (50×70 mm), UK, Schengen, Australia and Japan (all 35×45 mm), China visa (33×48 mm), Indian PAN/ID (25×35 mm), or enter any custom millimetre size.

Positioning is the most common reason photos get rejected, so the editor gives you adjustable "top of head" and "chin" guide lines with a dashed face oval: drag and zoom your photo until your head sits cleanly between the guides. A built-in AI background remover — a small model that downloads once and runs locally — cuts you out so you can drop in the plain white or light background most countries require, and brightness/contrast sliders handle uneven lighting.

Output is exact to the pixel: dimensions are computed as mm ÷ 25.4 × DPI, so a 35×45 mm photo at the standard 300 DPI exports as 413×531 px, with 200 and 600 DPI options. Download the single photo, or a full print sheet — 4×6 inch, A4 or US Letter — automatically tiled with as many copies as fit plus thin cut guides, so one pharmacy print of a 4×6 yields several official-size photos.

Popular uses

Renew a passport or apply for a visa without paying for a studio session Make 25×35 mm photos for Indian PAN card and ID applications Print 8+ official-size photos from a single 4×6 pharmacy print Produce exact-size digital photos for online visa and study-permit portals Replace a busy background with plain white for any ID photo

Frequently asked questions

The presets carry the official dimensions: India, the UK, Schengen countries, Australia and Japan all use 35×45 mm; the United States uses 2×2 inches (51×51 mm); Canada uses 50×70 mm for passports; China visas use 33×48 mm; and Indian PAN/ID photos are 25×35 mm. If your document is not listed, switch to the Custom preset and type the width and height in millimetres from the official instructions.

Download the print sheet (4×6, A4 or US Letter) and print it at 100% / "Actual size" — turn off any "fit to page" or "shrink to printable area" option. The chosen DPI is baked into the file, so each tiled copy comes out at the exact millimetre dimensions; then cut along the thin guide lines.

No. The background-removal model (a few megabytes) is downloaded to your browser on first use and runs entirely on your device — the photo itself is never transmitted. If your device or browser can't run the model, you can still crop manually and pick a solid background colour from the swatches.

The tool guarantees the mechanical requirements: exact dimensions, print resolution and a plain background. Acceptance also depends on rules no cropper can fix — a recent photo, neutral expression, eyes open and visible, no glare on glasses, even lighting and no shadows. Use the head-top and chin guides to position your head, and check the head-height rule in your document's official instructions before submitting.

300 DPI is the standard for photo printing and what most applications expect, so it is the default. Choose 600 DPI for maximum print sharpness (bigger file), or 200 DPI as an acceptable minimum for digital-only uploads. DPI changes pixel count, not physical size: the millimetre dimensions stay identical.
