A spirit level needs your device's tilt sensors. Your current device doesn't expose them (most desktops don't) — but your phone almost certainly does.
Motion access was blocked
Reload the page and tap Allow when asked for motion & orientation. On iOS you can also re-enable it in Settings ▸ Safari ▸ Motion & Orientation Access.

Stand your phone on an edge against the surface, or hold it flat against a wall.
Tip: tap Calibrate to zero on a surface you know is flat to cancel sensor & case bias. · calibration active
