About Canada PR Cost Calculator
This calculator estimates the true cost of Canada PR through Express Entry — the government fees plus the third-party costs most budgets forget. Set the number of adults and dependent children, tick the extras that apply to you, and you get an itemized table with a running total in Canadian dollars, computed entirely in your browser.
The government side uses the current IRCC fee schedule: a $950 processing fee and $575 Right of Permanent Residence Fee per adult, $260 per dependent child, and biometrics at $85 per person capped at $170 per family. On top of that sit the costs almost every candidate pays before or after the application: an educational credential assessment (around $220), an approved language test (around $320 per adult), and immigration medical exams (roughly $450 per adult and $250 per child).
A worked example: a single applicant paying for everything lands at about CAD $2,600, while a couple with one child comes to roughly $5,710 — $3,050 of it processing and RPRF alone. The estimate deliberately excludes settlement funds (use the proof of funds calculator for that separate requirement), travel, and provincial nominee fees, which range from free in some provinces to $1,500–$2,000 for Ontario's OINP. The Right of Permanent Residence Fee ($575 per adult) is refunded if your application is refused, or if you withdraw or do not ultimately become a permanent resident. The processing fee is only refundable if IRCC has not started processing. Third-party costs — language test, ECA and medicals — are never refundable, though test results stay valid for two years and an ECA for five.
The biggest is settlement funds — a separate show-me-the-money requirement of $15,263 for a single FSW applicant that you keep rather than spend. Also excluded: provincial nominee application fees (from $0 in several provinces to about $1,475 for BC PNP and $1,500–$2,000 for Ontario), police certificates, document translation, courier charges and flights. Add those that apply to your pathway.
