About Daily Sudoku

This is a free daily Sudoku with a twist: everyone in the world gets the same puzzle each day, generated from the calendar date, so times are genuinely comparable and solving every day builds a visible streak. Alongside the daily there are unlimited Easy, Medium and Hard practice puzzles, and every game auto-saves in your browser — close the tab mid-solve and it resumes exactly where you left off, timer included.

Puzzles are generated properly rather than pulled from a fixed list. The generator first builds a complete valid grid, then removes clues one at a time, re-checking after every removal that exactly one solution still exists. That uniqueness guarantee matters: every puzzle here can be finished with pure logic, never guessing. Difficulty is controlled by how many clues remain — 43 givens on Easy down to 27 on Hard — and the daily rotates through a seven-day cycle that climbs from easier grids to a weekly Expert challenge.

The solving aids match what serious players expect: pencil-mark notes, an optional auto-candidates mode that computes and prunes the possibilities in every cell as you play, mistake highlighting you can switch off, undo, a fill-one-cell hint, a mistake counter, a timer and a shareable result card. On desktop the whole game is keyboard-playable — 1–9 to place, N for notes, H for a hint, arrows to move around the grid.

Frequently asked questions

Is the daily Sudoku really the same puzzle for everyone?
Yes. The daily grid is produced by a seeded generator keyed to the calendar date, so every visitor on the same date gets an identical puzzle — which is what makes shared times and mistake counts meaningful. It switches over at midnight in your local time zone, and the win screen shows a live countdown to the next one.
Do the puzzles always have exactly one solution?
Yes. While digging holes in the completed grid, the generator runs a solver after removing each clue and puts the clue back if a second solution appears. Every puzzle — daily or practice — is verified to have a single unique solution, so you can always progress by logic alone.
What is the difference between pencil marks and auto-candidates?
Pencil marks are your own notes: with Notes mode on, tapping numbers toggles small candidates in a cell, exactly like writing in the corner of a paper grid. Auto-candidates instead computes every number that can legally go in every empty cell and keeps pruning them as you place values. Notes train real solving technique; auto-candidates is better for learning or speed-solving.
How does the streak work, and what breaks it?
Solving the daily puzzle increments your streak if you also solved yesterday's; miss a day and the next solve restarts the count at 1. Each calendar day counts once, and the streak is stored on your device. Using hints, undo or making mistakes does not break a streak — only skipping a day does.
Can I finish today's daily later, or on another difficulty first?
Yes. Progress is saved separately for the Daily, Easy, Medium and Hard modes, so you can leave the daily half-done, play a practice grid, and come back — each tab restores its own board, notes, timer and mistake count.
Is Daily Sudoku free to use?
Daily Sudoku is 100% free — no signup, no watermarks and no usage limits. It’s one of 200+ free tools we build and give away.
Are my scores saved and shareable?
Yes — best scores save in your browser and most games give you a shareable result to challenge friends.
